RCDS sent two robotics teams to Jericho, N.Y., for the first VEX Robotics competition of the 2018-19 season. Twenty-eight teams from across New York and New Jersey competed, with the RCDS teams finishing the day-long competition in 2nd and 13th place!
One RCDS team championed the "king of the hill" task, with its robot finishing the two-minute round on top of the highest platform while blocking all other teams from toppling it - a difficult task that no other team was able to accomplish that day!
The RCDS second-place team qualified for States. In the "Skills" category, both RCDS robots demonstrated a strong capacity to complete tasks, earning 3rd and 9th place, respectively. The RCDS delegation took advantage of the day to test out new equipment and programs, gain valuable feedback about their designs, and make plans for their next iterations. It was a great start to the season with a few weeks to prepare for the next competition on Saturday, December 15, in Roslyn, N.Y.
